Sao Miguel do Gostoso is a fishermen’s village on the shore of Rio Grande do Norte state, 110 Km north of its capital, Natal.
With 8.000 people, the village is developing in a fast but sustainable way, mainly due to wind and kite surfers, who can enjoy here the best wind of the region.
The perfect tropical climate
BEACHES
Are the main attraction. Long and almost inexplorated, but already with good services. From Ponta do St.Cristo to praia do Marco beach, there are 25 Km of sand to explore walking, driving a buggy or, even better… sailing downwind!
CLIMATE
It’s almost perfect all year around. Temperatures never go under 22° nor above 32°.The costant trade wind is refreshing even in the hottest summer evenings.

The SPOT
Sao Miguel do Gostoso Spot named Ponta do Santo Cristo is one of the windiest areas of the planet, thanks to a costant trade wind together with special thermic effects and due to its location on the “esquina do continente” (corner of the continent). Only the rainy season of April, May and June lowers the average of windy days.
The marvelous bay shaped by the cape is the perfect scenario for what is considered to be one of the best all-round spots in Brazil’s northeast. With low tide a flat water area enables newcomers to learn beach and water-starts easily, while a sandy bank with perfect rolling waves, approximately 400 meters from the coast, provides best fun to intermediate and advanced surfers.
Wind direction is E-SE, side-shore starboard tack (wind from the right), averaging 18 to 25 knts. Most used sails are 4.7 – 5.3 and 7 to 11 kites.
From October to March north swells happen to get in, creating gorgeous conditions for waveriding and jumping.
In July and August the wind can be from S-SE, off-shore in the bay, so not good for kiting but still ok for winging.
We organize trips to other spots in the south coast (Perobas or Maracajau), where during those months the conditions are better.
